Do I Need to Send Save the Dates?
February 17th, 2010
It is not a requirement to send Save the Date cards, but they can be quite helpful if you are planning a destination wedding or if many of your guests are from out of town. Announcing the date of your wedding well in advance gives your guests the opportunity to find the best rates and make arrangements for their transportation and hotel room. You may also want to give guests a heads up if you are scheduling your wedding over a holiday weekend so that they don’t plan their yearly beach trip on your big day.
I recommend sending Save the Dates six to nine months in advance of the wedding. And remember, anybody who receives a Save the Date must also receive an invitation!
Keep the wording of your Save the Date simple:
Please save the date
for the wedding of
Emily Blunt
and
John Krasinski
July 4, 2010
Malibu, California
Formal invitation to follow
or
Emily and John are getting married!
July 4, 2010
Malibu, California
Invitation to follow
I advise brides to include the URL of their wedding website on the bottom of the card to encourage people to visit the site. Use your website to share more details about the event, such as information about hotel reservations or activities taking place before or after the wedding. The one thing you never want to include on a Save the Date? Information about your registry!

bridal show survival
January 18th, 2010
Phew! We survived two bridal shows in two weeks! Not only did we survive but we had the pleasure of meeting some really cool women who are just starting to plan for their big day. I talked to many of you about your ideas for your Save the Date cards and invitations and was really impressed by your creativity.
I’d like to remind anyone who visited our booths that the invitations we had on display were just small assortment of what have to offer. We literally have hundreds of designs from which you can choose and nearly all of them can be customized — everything from the ink colors to the font styles to the placement of the graphics can be changed.

omaha bridal fair
January 15th, 2010
We had so much fun talking to brides about their stationery needs at last Sunday’s Omaha Bridal Showcase that we’ve decided to participate in the Omaha Bridal Fair at the Qwest Center on Sunday, January 17th. If you are recently engaged, this is the perfect venue to discover fantastic vendors–from reception locations and caterers to photographers and videographers. And if you thought that the giveaway we offered at the Bridal Showcase was fantastic, wait ’til you see what we’ll be giving away this weekend!

2010 wedding trends
January 14th, 2010
In January’s issue of ONE Magazine I talked about current wedding invitation trends. Yesterday my friends at Elizabeth Anne Designs and The Sweetest Occasion discussed overall wedding trends for 2010 on their respective blogs. There are so many creative ways to make your wedding reflective of your personality and to make it stand out from other weddings. Take a risk, be unique!
Some of my favorite trends for 2010 include:
Bridesmaids dresses in champagne, ivory and cream
Statement bouquets
Black shoes
What are some of your favorite new trends? What did you do (or plan to do) to make your wedding exceptional?

wedding invitations showcase your personality
January 13th, 2010
Did you happen to catch The Social Life of Paper in the January issue of ONE Magazine? We were featured in an article on wedding invitation trends. Below is a snippet of the story.
In May 2009, PJ Feinstein opened The Social Life of Paper. She is the curator of a non-classic, modern, and unique collection of invitations and announcements and is available by appointment.
“Your wedding invitation reflects your personality,” Feinstein said. “They’re beautiful keepsakes and are works of art that you can frame or put in a scrapbook.”
In the invitation business, Feinstein sees herself as the person bringing custom designers to the general public. She works with a core group of smaller designers from all over the country to insure that her invitations are one of a kind.
